WELCOME!
We are in our 2nd chapter in our world travels voyage.
Our first chapter was spent in Jeju Island, South Korea, where we began to explore the life of living overseas, traveling to Asian countries and starting our career as teachers. This was an important chapter for our relationship as it was taken to the next level. We celebrated our wedding in Samoa on the beach with a double rainbow as a blessing to a life of love and companionship, and then continued the Polynesian celebration with loved ones back home in Chicago. Jeju was where we taught at our first international school (and it was a brand new school!), where we gained lots of teaching experience. In Jeju, I ran my first full marathon and dived into a whole new world of yoga, taking classes by my favorite teacher, Sarah Brodie! Keith took kite boarding and Mui Tai Kickboxing lessons and even ran 25 miles while injured and on crutches! We both were part of a very special and supportive expat community, in which we met so many wonderful friends from around the world. We participated in beach volleyball, bowling and ultimate frisbee tournaments/fundraisers through Jeju Fury. We also hiked the tallest mountain in South Korea, Mt. Halla, three times. We traveled to Japan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hawaii, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Samoa and Sri Lanka. The first chapter was all about new beginnings, relationships, traveling, and trying new hobbies.
Our second chapter has been entirely different. Instead of living on a laid back, small island, we are now living in an intense, complex world city, which is also 70% national park with lots of beautiful hiking trails, islands and beaches within 30 mins-1 hr from the city. Our view from our first apartment balcony in Hung Hom was skyscrapers, mountains off in the distance and the Kowloon bay/promenade. We are now living on Hong Kong island in Sai Ying Pun, which is a 10 minute walk from Central, a 7 minute walk to HKU and a 5 min walk to the beginning of trails going up to Victoria Peak. We're in the middle of it all- nature and city life!
We feel so blessed to have this opportunity to live in such an 'opportunity' city, and are focusing this new chapter on reaching new heights. We both have focused on our professional development by completing our Masters in Education and getting experience teaching with the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Keith also received a personal training certificate and has been moving up with his job in leadership and curriculum development roles. I have received a Sports Fitness and Foundation certificate, along with 700 hours in Yoga Teacher Trainings. We both are continuing our travels around Hong Kong, as well as exploring new areas in Asia. Our fitness goals are reaching new levels as well. Keith ran his first 100 mile race and ran about 7 ultramarathons and I have reached a more advanced level in my yoga practice. While Keith is teaching PE currently at Singapore International School, I am teaching English part-time and yoga part-time.
I hope this blog entertains you, educates you, and allows you to stay connected and updated on the lives of The Wojewniks while we're living overseas.
Thanks for always supporting us. We hope you have a chance to visit us while we're living in Hong Kong. We'd love to show you around!
Hugs,
Tina
